For a famous magnet company in the pneumatic field we have realized 1000. 000 injection ferrite rings and 100.000 neodymium rings for pneumatic cylinder magnetic sensor.

The final customer’s need was to improve sensor’s reading precision reducing dimensions.

His first solution was a plasto-ferrite ring, axially magnetized. The low properties of this magnetic material forced the use of a lumbering magnet, beyond the necessity of keeping the ring very close to the sensor for a better reading. Industry Sensors Pneumatic Cylinder Magnets

Our work, instead, focused on the realization of sintered neodymium magnet ring, axially magnetized and coated with epoxy resin.

The ring magnetic performances, definitely higher than previous solution, allowed to reduce sensor’s dimension, offering a more precise reading. Consequently, the distance between magnet and sensor increased. The axial magnetization of neodymium ring has been realized more perpendicular comparing with the one of plasto-ferrite magnet. In the end, epoxy coating has garanted a longer life of pneumatic cylinder. Standard Air Cylinder Magnet

End customer has finally obtained a better sensor’s precision, putting on the market an evolved system, with reduced sizes. Pneumatic Cylinder Sensor Magnet

Sensors are used to provide position feedback to control systems in automated machinery and equipment. Pneumatic cylinders use sensors to detect the linear position of the piston for applications where position feedback is crucial. The most common type of sensor used for pneumatic cylinders are magnetic proximity sensors, which detect the magnetic field of a magnet integrated in the cylinder piston. The sensor is mounted onto the pneumatic cylinder’s body and will indicate “ON” or “OFF” based on proximity to the magnet. Depending on the application, various different magnetic proximity sensor technologies can be used to maximize performance, space, and reliability.

    Industry sensors
Reed sensors are the most common type of pneumatic cylinder sensor. They have been used for years and are proven technology. The two main cause of concerns for a reed sensor over other sensors discussed below are life-time and shock/vibration concern. Reed sensors typically have a life cycle of over 10 million and typically the reed sensor isn’t the first to fail when it is in a high shock or vibration applications. For these reasons, reed sensors have been and still are the most popular pneumatic cylinder sensor
