Voice coil motor, VCM is a special form of direct drive motor, which can directly convert electrical energy into linear motion mechanical energy. The principle is to put a cylindrical winding in a uniform air gap magnetic field, and the winding generates a magnetic field. , Drive the load equipment to do linear reciprocating motion, change the strength and flow direction of the current, change the size and direction of the magnetic field, and change the linear motion frequency and distance of the load equipment.
VCM has the advantages of high response, high speed, high acceleration, simple structure, small size and convenient control. VCM is a core component in hard disk drive (HDD). HDD is one of the most common peripheral devices used in computer systems to store information. HDD mainly includes a spindle motor (Spindle motor) and a magnetic head positioning device. The function of the spindle motor is twofold: one is to drive the disk to provide enough air buoyancy to allow the head to fly on the surface of the disk; the other is to turn the magnetic fan (Sector) to be accessed to the side of the head so that the head can read and write records on the surface of the disk Information. The head positioning device includes the VCM, the arm actuator and the head assy itself. The role of the voice coil motor is to position the magnetic head, so it is also called “head positioning motor”.
Voice coil motors are mainly used in small stroke, high speed, high acceleration motion, suitable for small space. In addition to being used in HDDs, common applications include autofocus drive devices in mobile phone cameras, etc. VCM magnets mainly use sintered NdFeB and bonded NdFeB, mainly 42M, 45M, 45H, 48M and other brand products, and 50M, 52M, 48H also occupy a certain market share.
