HOW USEFUL IS SEWING MAGNETS

Neodymium magnets are powerful in their magnetic field. It has a strong magnetic field over any other kind of magnet and that is the reason it can be used in the production of many small useful products. The strong magnetic field allows it to be used in small magnetic products with the same magnetic force. So these tiny neodymium magnets are immense for the use like magnetic clasps in apparel, purses, binders, printed folders and more. The new technique of simple disc magnets are now used as a good solution for sewing magnets specifically manufactured for this task. However these magnets are often known as Sew-In magnets.

SEWING MAGNETS

The sewing magnets are never sold in single piece. It always comes in matched pairs. Every pair is marked with either a + or a – sign. The magnets are used as the clasp in the pocket of anywhere else in a pair of trousers or shorts. They are attached through typically sewn into a hem or sometimes through the fold of the fabric. Thus the magnets are not visible to the outside of the finished article.

Hence lots of other possible uses for such magnets are there. Depending upon your imagination you can use it in different innovative application. The popular application are seen in purses, often as a magnetic clasp in order to hold a decorative cover.

The pair of magnet can be attached to both the side of the finished article. The magnet is marked with a positive and negative sign. The positive sign magnet in our pocket example should be sewn into the flap of the pocket, whereas the negative sign magnet is sewn just opposite the pocket material. Both the positive and negative sign magnets should be faced towards each other. The magnetic force of the strong magnet enables it to pull towards each other through the two intervening layers of fabric.

The sewing magnets come in different sizes such as small, medium as well as large. The key factor of the magnets is the thickness. Even a slight difference in thickness may cause a big difference in the strength. Sewing magnets also come with desired steel and plastic cover. The plain magnets are applied by sewn into pockets of material, while the plastic layered magnets can be attached with sew thread to hold the magnet in proper place. But the protective plastic cover protects the magnet from the effect of moisture and possible corrosion. However sometimes it has been seen that magnets without cover demonstrate slightly stronger pull forces.
